Market Day

Market day today was a success. We are quickly learning that getting taxed causes you to loose alot of money! To avoid this, we need to make products that are within the laws of the Government. More children spent today than last week, and some childrns snoodles are quickly running out!
It was really fun and next week we are going to focus on promoting our products using expression, eye contact, body language, projection, paced and using persuasive language.

Have a great weekend everyone, keep practicing your time tables!

Our Expert Visit

On Wednesday the 3rd of March, Room Seven had an expert artist come to visit. His name was Chris Flavell and he is a professional painter.

We learnt that he uses symbols, such as the Koru to represent his Identity in his paintings. All of his paintings tell a story. He told us about; the Koru coming from the fern, he uses friends and family as his inspiration, he has been a painter for 3 years, we all have a journey and we can express this in art, he cuts his art work into wood, he uses maori patterns as it is part of his culture and that he really enjoys being a artist.

We have taken this new knowledge and created some Koru patterns that represent our own identities.

Here are some pictures of Chirs and his art work.

Inquiry 2010

Today in Inquiry we re-wrote the Understandings. We now have a better understanding of them and what they mean.

We are learning to:
1) know that the understanding of art will be different for everyone. It depends on what you know about the art and the artist.
2) Art can show emotions, events, ideas and stories.
3) Art can show that we are all different. Art can express our emotions, tell us about the world and the people in it.

We are going to express our Identity through art.

So "What's Your Story?"

Tuesday, February 2, 2010
